VIDEO | Meet Julius Hodge

Julius Hodge spent two seasons as an assistant coach for Santa Clara men's basketball.

Hodge was hired in March 2016, after spending that previous year as University at Buffalo director of player development.

In his first season as an assistant, Hodge helped Santa Clara posted a 17-16 record and reach the 2017 West Coast Conference Tournament semifinals for the first time in six years. That was a five-game overall improvement from the previous season, tied for the best in the league with Gonzaga at the conclusion of the WCC tourney. The Broncos were tied for fourth in the conference standings, finished above .500 in league play for first time since 2012-13.

The native of Harlem, New York, was one of the top all-time players in North Carolina State history who went on to standout professional career.

Playing under current Santa Clara head coach Herb Sendek, Hodge was a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference pick (first team – 2002-03, 2003-04; second team – 2004-05), the ACC Player of the Year and consensus second-team All-American in 2004, and a member of the league’s all-tournament team all four years. He led the Wolfpack to the 2005 NCAA Sweet Sixteen and later that year was selected 20th overall in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets.

He played with the Nuggets into the 2006-07 season before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. Following that season, he began an international playing career that spanned 12 different organizations. He spent time in Italy, Australia, Vietnam, France, Lebanon and Great Britain.

After his playing career ended, Hodge joined the Buffalo staff where he assisted with film evaluation, development of practice and game schedules, game planning and acting as the academic and community liaison.

Hodge played in 129 career games at NC State, including 125 starts, the second-highest total in school history. He ranks third on the career scoring list (2,040), fifth in assists (454), 11th in steals (161) and 13th in rebounding (773). In addition, his 596 made free throws are first in NC State history.

Hodge and his wife, Latoya, have a son, Legacy, and a daughter, Michaela Supreme.
