MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - Boomer Brazzle scored 19 points as Pepperdine beat Santa Clara 73-69 on Friday.

Jimmy Miggins and Mike Westphal added 14 points apiece for the Waves (10-6, 2-1). Pepperdine led by as many as 24 before Santa Clara came back at the end of the first half and continued to chip away at Pepperdines' lead throughout the game.

Santa Clara (10-5, 1-1) went on a 26-14 run in the second half and closed Pepperdines' lead to 66-64 with 3:08 left.

The Waves looked as if they had the game wrapped up, leading by 71-66 with ten seconds left before Bakari Altheimer hit a three-pointer to bring the Broncos to within 71-69 with five seconds left, but that would be the last shot of the game for Santa Clara.

The Broncos were led by Altheimer's 18 points, including four three-pointers. Ethan Rohde added 14 points while Jordan Legge scored 13 for Santa Clara, which outrebounded Pepperdine 42-32.
