MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- Rico Tucker scored 19 points, Malcolm Thomas had 11 points and eight rebounds, and Pepperdine held off a late surge by Santa Clara to take a 64-58 victory Saturday night.

The loss overshadowed a big night for Santa Clara's John Bryant, who hit all 11 of his shots from the floor and went 3-of-4 from the line to score 25 points. He also had 12 rebounds and five blocks.

Pepperdine (9-17, 3-7 West Coast Conference) made an 11-2 run midway through the second half to take an eight-point lead. Santa Clara (12-12, 4-5) battled back and came within a point with two minutes left before the rally fell short.

The Broncos charged out to a quick 10-point lead after a 12-0 stretch, then the Waves answered with an 11-2 spurt and led 33-32 at halftime.

Mitch Henke scored 12, Ben Dowdell had 11 and Brody Angley finished with 11 assists for Santa Clara.

Pepperdine hit six 3-pointers to Santa Clara's two.
