INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Darnell Archey and Brandon Miller each had 17 points to lead Butler to an 84-60 win over Santa Clara on Wednesday.

Miller missed only one shot during the game, ending the night with 5-of-6 shooting. He was 5-of-5 from behind the arc and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Butler (5-3) opened the scoring with a 3-pointer from LaVall Jordan at 19:59. Santa Clara answered with a 3-pointer from Brian Jones, making the score 3-3 - but that was the only time they would come close to the Bulldogs, whose lead grew throughout the game.

At two instances in the second half, Butler led by as many as 30 points.

Three other Butler players were in double digits.

Thomas Jackson had 14 points, and Jordan and Joel Cornette each chipped in 13.

Jones had 13 for Santa Clara (4-6), while Jamie Holmes and Justin Holbrook each added 11.

Butler outshot Santa Clara, 57 percent to 42 percent. Butler made 64 percent of its shots in the first half, while Santa Clara was 45 percent shooting.

Butler was leading 49-31 at the half.
