Perry Petty Signs National Letter Of Intent To Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball head coach Kerry Keating announced the signing of junior college standout Perry Petty this week. Petty signed on Wednesday, April 16, the first day of the regular signing period for basketball. He is the fifth member of the Broncos' 2008-09 recruiting class and joins James Rahon, Marc Trasolini, Troy Alexander and Kevin Foster.

"We are excited and happy to announce Perry as part of our recruiting class for the 2008-09 season," said Keating. "He has an ability to contribute right away and has been successful for the last two seasons at Allen County playing for coach Mike Hayes. He, along with Troy, James, Kevin and Marc will be excellent additions to the Santa Clara community."

A native of Milwaukee, Wis. (Juneau HS), Petty comes to the Broncos from Allen County Community College in Burlingame, Kan., where he played two seasons for the Red Devils. During that time, the 6-1 point guard compiled an impressive 1,091 points in 61 games with 311 assists. A 2007-08 All-Jayhawk Conference First Team selection and Region VI honorable mention, Petty averaged 21.0 points, shooting 47 percent from the field, and dishing out 6.0 assists per game. He led the Red Devils in steals and assists, and was second in three-point field goal percentage.
