SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Santa Clara University crew team began the season with an initial four-team race at the Port of Sacramento, featuring Stanford, UC Davis and California.
The Broncos rowed in six races (Varsity and JV 8, Varsity and JV 4, Novice 8 and 4). SCU's racing times were on pace with the team's finishes at the end of last year, when the Broncos had the top boat among all WCC schools.
"We really needed to find our bearings and find where we stood after our preseason training," said Santa Clara Head Coach Wieslaw Kujda. "I'm very happy because we had to do so much work in the fall training. It was good to see the team racing strong and posting good times. The hard work has paid off."
Santa Clara will race again this weekend at the Sacramento State Invitational at Lake Natoma on Saturday, March 12.
