Doyle, Crutchlow of Men's Rowing Receive All-IRA Academic Honors

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (DANBURY, Conn.) — Santa Clara rowing rising senior Christopher Doyle and rising junior Ian Crutchlow have received Intercollegiate Rowing Association 2014-15 All-Academic Honors for the Men's Heavyweight event, announced by the IRA Board of Stewards Thursday. Doyle and Crutchlow competed with Santa Clara as part of the IRA National Championship Regatta May 29-31.

For a student-athlete to be eligible, he or she must be at least a sophomore in standing and completed one full year at his or her respective institution; maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.35 or higher; earn an institutional letter; and compete at the 2015 Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta. The Broncos capped their 50th anniversary season by having 14 oarsmen compete at IRAs between their Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 boats. Of the 14, 10 were freshmen, leaving only four Santa Clara rowers eligible for all-academic distinction.

Doyle, a native of Houston, Texas, is a double-major in History and Economics. He carries a 3.75 GPA through the end of the 2014-15 school year. Crutchlow, a native of Santa Clara, is a double-major in Finance and Economics. He carries a 3.53 GPA through the end of the 2014-15 school year.
