SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's rowing picked up a historic win for the program Sunday at the San Diego Crew Classic. The Broncos Varsity 8 won the Cal Cup for the first time in their history.

"The Cal Cup victory was a great team victory and a historic one for our program," Santa Clara head coach Jay Farwell said. "The Varsity 8 really left nothing in the tank. It was a great effort leading this deep field from start to finish. Coxswain Grace D'Amico called a great race and the guys responded. We faced some very good crews and our team continues to progress in a positive direction."

It wasn't just the win that was historic for the Broncos, however. All of the Santa Clara boats advanced to the grand final, another first for the team.

The Broncos don't have time to relax. They are back in action Saturday, April 15 at the Stanford Invite where they will face San Diego, Oregon State, Cal, and Stanford.
