Men's Rowing Qualifies for Third Straight IRA National Championship Regatta at Western Sprints

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.
– For the third year in a row, Santa Clara men's rowing qualified for the IRA National Championship Regatta with a strong showing at Saturday's Western Sprints.

The Broncos Varsity 8 boat won its final with a time of 5:54.550, just under four seconds ahead of second place UC San Diego.

The 2nd Varsity 8 also won its race with a time of 6:05.860. Against UC San Diego came in second, this time with a time of 6:07.808.

The Broncos finished second in both the 3rd Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 races. In the 3rd Varsity they finished with a time of 6:22.768, five seconds behind the winners from UC San Diego. In the Varsity 4, Santa Clara finished in 7:20.184, behind San Diego who finished with a time of 7:12.864.

With their top boat winning, Santa Clara has options on which boats will race at the IRA National Championship Regatta. The Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 will be going with other boats to be determined at a later date.

The IRA National Championship Regatta will be held June 2-4 in Rancho Cordova, Calif.
