Men's Rowing Travels to San Diego

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After facing some stiff competition to open the season, Santa Clara men's rowing is right back on the water Sunday and Monday with duals against UC San Diego, San Diego, and Gonzaga in San Diego. On Sunday the Broncos will race San Diego in the V8, 2V8, and 3V8. Monday they race UC San Diego and Gonzaga in the same races.

The Broncos went to the Las Vegas Invitational last weekend and competed against Oregon State and Dartmouth.

"The dual format allows the teams to race each other allowing them to get needed racing experience early in the season," Santa Clara head coach Jay Farwell said. "This will be another long road trip for us after the Las Vegas Invite last weekend but the guys will be ready. We learned a number of things from last weekend's racing with Oregon State and Dartmouth and we will be looking to see if the guys can make the changes we are asking for on race day this weekend."

The opponents for the Broncos are their Western Sprint rivals, so this weekend will serve as a preview for that event.

"This weekend's results will give each crew an early indication as to where they stack up against the competition for the end of the year IRA qualifier at the Western Sprints Championship in the middle of May," Farwell said.
