Men's Rowing Races at Husky Open Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's rowing heads back out on the water Saturday at the Husky Open hosted by Washington.

This is the first invite for the Broncos to Washington since the mid-80's.

"Washington rows on Lake Washington and it has one of the premier racing venues in the country," Santa Clara head coach Jay Farwell said. "To receive an invitation to the Husky Open to race the University of Washington is a great honor for Santa Clara Rowing.

Santa Clara will also be facing conference rival Gonzaga. After meeting the Zags at the Western Springs Challenge earlier in the month, the Broncos can see how they have progressed as a team.

"Our team has been working on some technical issues as well as shifting lineups in preparation for the Husky Open," Farwell said. "We have had a very productive Spring Break and the Husky Open is going to provide us with some immediate feedback on our progression since the Western Sprint Challenge. We are taking two 8s to the Husky Open. The team is looking forward to the trip, as we are at the end of our break and the guys won't have any academic commitments during this trip."
