Cabo Collegiate Washed Out, Round One Scores Become Final

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mex. – Second and third round play of the 3rd-annual Cabo Collegiate in Baja, Mexico were washed out Tuesday due to a tropical storm passing through the coast. The 12-team field was able to get in approximately 13 to 14 holes Monday in second round action, but since Tuesday's play was canceled, the incomplete round will not count.

Final results will be credited through just one round, which was played on Sunday, giving the University of Mississippi tournament championship honors. The Rebels posted the best opening-round of 8-over par (296). The University of Kentucky's Will Bishop was the leader after the first round, shooting a 2-under par 70.

"We were trying to find a window today to get out on the course, but the weather did not cooperate," said Santa Clara head coach Rob Miller on Tuesday. "We could not complete that second round. It's too bad; I think we would have been in pretty good shape. Scott Lowe and Drew Miller were even par and Gio Gandionco, who had a nice first round, was just two-over."
