SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Never before had head coach Rob Miller and the Santa Clara University men's golf team entered four freshmen in tournament, yet alone had four freshman scores count towards the team total. That's exactly what happened Monday at Brookside Country Club in Stockton. 

Rookies Martin Keskari, Drew Miller and Carlos Briones all finished Round One at UOP's Stockton Convention & Visitors Bureau Pacific Invitational among the top 20. Keskari (pictured) posted a 3-under par 69. The tournament spans three days, with teams playing 18 holes Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 

"We had it going pretty good, but made a mess of it on our last hole," said Miller after the round. "We had been 10-under up to that point and now we are at six. But other than that we played pretty well. There is a lot of good teams out here. It is a bit unexpected that Kansas State is up there and Fresno State struggled, but its only the first round. There is a lot of golf left."
