Pivotal Event Up Next for SCU Bronco Men's Golf Team

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara's young and highly-touted men's golf team will be tested at the 2013 The Farms Collegiate Invitational Monday and Tuesday, February 11 and 12. The 12-team event, hosted by the University of San Diego, allows the Broncos a chance to rebound from a disappointing 2013 debut in Tucson.

"It was certainly a wake up call for the team," explains Santa Clara head men's golf coach Rob Miller, who is armed with the nation's top group of first-year players. "Now (we) have to re-group for next week's event at The Farms in San Diego."

Miller's new class finished the fall season No. 1 nationally in GolfStat's freshman impact rankings. There is no doubt the talent-level of Carlos Briones (San Lorenzo, Calif. / Moreau Catholic), Martin Keskari (Frankfurt, Germany / Carl-Schurz-Schule), Gio Gandionco (Cebu City, Philippines / Paref Springdale School) and Drew Miller (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Chaminade College Prep) will allow the Broncos to compete on any given week this spring. Consistency is something that will be important as the 2013 schedule unfolds.

Junior Scott Lowe (Calgary, Alberta Canada / Edge School) came through with the team's best overall score in Tucson. Lowe, a 2012 WCC All-Academic Team honoree and a qualifier for the 2011 Canadian Tour's ATB Financial Classic, shot a 2-under par 69 in round two and finished 39th.

Miller will bring all four freshman, along with Lowe and junior classmate Bobby Monaco (Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) down to San Diego for The Farms.
