PARK CITY, Utah – Led by freshman Hayden Shieh and sophomore Evan McLeod, who each scored below par in today's second round, the Santa Clara men's golf team holds a four-shot lead after the first day of competition at the Utah Ogio Invitational, played at the 7,130-yard, par-71 Arnold Palmer designed Jeremy Ranch and Country Club in Park City, Utah.

McLeod fired a 3-under 68 and Shieh carded a 2-under 69 in today's second round leading the Broncos to the lowest team score of the day with a 1-over 356 in the six-count-five scoring event. Santa Clara climbed two spots on the team leaderboard after a first round 361 and enter Tuesday's final round with a 717 total, four shots better than Seattle (721) and nine shots ahead of Arkansas-Little Rock and tournament host Utah (726).

Shieh's second round included an eagle-3 on the par-5, 540-yard 13th hole and he coupled his score with an even-par 71 in the first round to tie for second place with a pair of golfers at 2-under 140, three shots behind leader Nic Booth of Southern Utah who scored a 5-under 137.

McLeod is one shot behind the second place trio tied for fifth at 1-under 141.

With a pair of 72s, junior Gio Gandionco rests in a tie for 12th with a 2-over 144. Drew Miller scored rounds of 72 and 74 and his 4-over 146 leaves him tied for 22nd place.

The Broncos are in position for their first team win since capturing the Long Beach State Del Walker Invitational on March 8, 2011. That event was also a six-count-five team scoring tournament.

Tuesday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (PT). The Broncos will be grouped with players from Seattle and Utah and tee off from the first through fourth holes.
