Gandionco, Shieh 1-Shot Back After Round Two Of Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. – Freshman Hayden Shieh carded a 3-under 67 today to tie teammate Gio Gandionco for second place, just one shot off the lead after two rounds of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, completed today under an rain at the Stockton Golf and Country Club.

After today's even-par 71, Gandionco is at 4-under 138 for the tournament, tied with Shieh and four other players one shot behind leader Petter Mikalsen of Denver heading into tomorrow's final round.

Shieh drained an eagle on the par-5, 516-yard 16th hole to move to 3-under and played his final 11 holes at even-par. Shieh joined Tyler Kertson, who eagled the same hole Thursday, and Gandionco, with 2-under holes tying the Broncos for tournament-high honors with three.

As a team the Broncos scored a 291 (+7) today and dropped to 10th place with a 580 two-day total. Santa Clara is just 10 shots out of the fifth spot and only 17 shots behind Denver, who took over first place on the team leaderboard after a second-round low 278.

Santa Clara will start Saturday's final round from the 10th hole teeing off at 8:30 a.m. The Broncos will be brouped with players from Cal State Bakersfield and Sacramento State.
