Shieh Tied For Lead; Broncos Ninth After Two Rounds Of Tiger Invitational

OPELIKA, Ala. – After consecutive rounds of 3-under 69, Santa Clara Freshman Hayden Shieh is tied for the lead after two rounds of the Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner, competed at the Grand National Lake Course in Opelika.

As a team the Broncos scored a second round 291 to move up a spot to ninth on the leaderboard following a first round 303. Ninth-ranked and tournament host Auburn enters Tuesday's final round with a 10-shot lead over Troy.

Shieh entered play Monday one-shot off the lead and gained a stroke on first round leader Taylor Coalson from UNC-Greensboro. Auburn's Michael Johnson shot a tournament-low 6-under 66 Monday to move into a three-way tie for first entering Tuesday's final round.

All Broncos improved on their first round scores to get the team within nine shots of fifth place.

Tyler Kertson shot an even-par 72 in Monday's second-round to move into a tie for 45th at 7-over 151 (79-72). Carlos Briones is also one of eight players at 151 after rounds of 77 and 74.

Gio Gandionco scored a second round 76 after Sunday's 78 to tie for 60th at 154. Michael Hultquist carded a second round 79 after a first round 84.

Shieh leads the 90-player field with 11 birdies and Briones has a tournament-high 26 pars through the first two rounds.
