SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara men's golf team is back in action Monday competing in the sixth annual Lone Star Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas-San Antonio at the 7,247-yard, par-72 Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
The Broncos will compete with ranked teams No. 12 Texas Tech and No. 44 Ohio State in addition to tournament host UTSA. Bowling Green, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Louisiana-Lafayette, New Mexico State, North Texas, Rice, Sacramento State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, UT Arlington and UTEP round out the 16-team field.
Santa Clara is coming off a 10th-place showing at the Tiger Invitational in Opelika, Ala. on Mar. 10. Hayden Shieh, who tied for 9th, was the Broncos top individual finisher at 3-under 213 and held a share of the lead after two rounds.
Tyler Kertson, Carlos Briones, Gio Gandionco and Drew Miller join Shieh to form the Broncos lineup for the Lone Star Invitational, which begins with a shotgun start at 6:30 a.m. (PT) Monday.
