Shieh Opens Play in NCAA Golf Championships Monday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Hayden Shieh opens plays in the Albuquerque, New Mexico regional of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships Monday.

The 54-hole, three-day event is being held on the Championship Course (par-72, 7,555 yards) at the University of New Mexico.

Shieh is making his second-straight appearance in the NCAA Regional, both as an individual.

A 2015-16 first team All-West Coast Conference pick, Shieh has nine career top-10 finishes, including a pair of victories.  

The sophomore tees off at 9:30 a.m. Pacific on Monday. There are 14 teams and five individuals playing in the New Mexico regional, one of the six across the country. Shieh is the regional's top seed among individuals which includes Patrick Fishburn (BYU), Frederik Dreier (UTEP), Trevor Clayton (Fresno State) and Nicholas Dilio (Saint Peter's).

The low five teams and the low individual not on one those schools from each of the six regionals will advance to the finals. The NCAA Championship finals for team and medalist titles will be decided May 27 through June 1 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
