SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's golf continues its fall season with a visit to Indiana to compete in the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic beginning Sunday. The three-day event will take place on the 6,713-yard, par-70 Warren Golf Course.
The Broncos will be joined by 14 other teams, including tournament host Notre Dame, Ball State, Butler, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Illinois State, IUPUI, Nevada, San Diego, Seattle, Utah State, UTEP, William & Mary and Xavier. Teams and individuals will play a single 18-hole round over each day of the event.
According to head coach Rob Miller, the Broncos are looking for more consistent play. The team in Indiana will consist of junior Hayden Shieh, sophomores Michiel Eyre III and Charlie Watson, and freshmen Devrath Das and Matt McCarty. Derek Ackerman will play as an individual in his first event of the season.
Santa Clara will be grouped with players from Nevada and Utah State in the first round and will tee off from the first hole at 5:30 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available here.
