SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's golf will play its final event of the fall season at the Saint Mary's Invitational starting Monday. The three-day tournament will be competed on the 6,927-yard, par-71 Poppy Hills Course in Pebble Beach.

The Broncos will be joined by 13 other teams, including tournament host Saint Mary's, Arizona, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Francisco, Texas State, Toledo, UC Santa Barbara and Washington State. Teams and individuals will play a single 18-hole round over each of the three days.

"There are two really good teams and one good team in the tournament," head coach Rob Miller said of the field. "After that it's a toss-up. Hopefully we can knock off a top team and finish in the top five. That would be nice."

San Diego State is the highest-ranked team at No. 25 according to the recent Golfstat.com poll. Oregon State is No. 48 and Saint Mary's No. 59. Santa Clara checked in at No. 178.

Santa Clara had its best showing of the fall last time out with a seventh-place finish at the Fighting Irish Golf Classic with a team score of 859 and looks to close out the fall with another impressive showing. "We are hoping for a strong finish in this event to build momentum for the spring season," Miller said.

Miller's five-player team will consist of Matt McCarty, Michiel Eyre III, Charlie Watson, Derek Ackerman and Hayden Shieh. Devrath Das and Evan McLeod will compete as individuals.

First round play begins at 8:30 a.m. with live scoring available at Golfstat.com.
