Men's Golf in Fifth Against Strong Field After One Day of John A. Burns Intercollegiate

KAUA'I, Hawaii – In the first action of the spring season, Santa Clara men's golf is in fifth place at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate. The Broncos are the only team in the top-six that is not ranked in the top-50.

Santa Clara shot a 1-under 287 as a team on Wednesday, three shots behind No. 46 BYU and five shots behind No. 23 UNLV. The Broncos are 19 shots behind No. 4 Virginia, who leads the field.

Hayden Shieh, Matt McCarty, and Charlie Watson are tied for 14th with a 1-under 71 after 18 holes to lead the Broncos. Michiel Eyre III is tied for 51st with a 2-over 74 and Hassan Said shot a 76 and is tied for 69th at 4-over.

Derek Ackerman competed as an individual and shot a 5-over 77 to sit tied for 80th.
