SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – Four Santa Clara men's golfers competing as individuals finished play at the Bill Cullum Invitational. Sophomore Will DelBiaggio carded the lowest score of the day among the quartet with an even-par 70.

"The guys were happy to get some competitive action," head coach Rob Miller said. "They all had moments of brilliance and competed, but they were a little rusty."

DelBiaggio's final-round 70 moved him up five spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 21st with a pair of golfers at 1-over 217. Cal State Fullerton's Derek Castillo claimed individual medalist honors by seven-shots, ending with a 14-under 202.

Junior Charlie Watson carded a final-round 77 to finish one shot behind his teammate, tied for 25th at 2-over 218. Watson tied his career-low score with a first-round 4-under 68.

Sophomore Ryan Johnson also shot a final-round 77 and finished tied for 32nd at 3-over 219. Devrath Das completed the tournament at 20-over 236.

"They needed this," Miller said of his players, who were all competing in their first event of the season.

The team is back in action on October 26 for the first-round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.
