SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The 22nd-ranked Santa Clara men's golf squad returns to action in the 19-team Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational. The three-day event starts Thursday on the 7,082-yard, par-72 Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

The Broncos haven't competed as a team since finishing as runner-up to Cal in the prestigious Alister MacKenzie on Oct. 10. They won the opening tournament of the fall season, claiming the title at The Jackrabbit at the beginning of this month by three-shots. Four players competed as individuals at last week's Bill Cullum Invitational in Southern California.

Santa Clara enters the event as the top-ranked team among the field, according to the recent Golfstat.com poll. Fellow West Coast Conference members BYU (29) and Saint Mary's (48) are next among ranked teams in the tournament.

Senior Hayden Shieh, who ranks No. 4 on the Golfstat individual list with an adjusted scoring average of 68.58, will lead the same group of five players into their third event of the season. Sophomore Matt McCarty has an adjusted scoring average of 70.75 to rank No. 89.

The two will be joined by junior Derek Ackerman and freshmen Zack Kaneshiro and Jack Avrit. Sophomore Will DelBiaggio will compete as an individual.

The Broncos will be one of the first teams to tee off on Thursday, getting the day started from the first hole at 8 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
