Men’s Golfer Earns WCC Honor

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara's Matt McCarty was named West Coast Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for March.

McCarty finished among the top 10 in both of his outings, posting just one round in the 70s. The sophomore tied for fifth at the Bandon Dunes Championship (March 11-13) at 7-under 213 (69-68-69), equaling his 54-hole career-low score and bettering five players ranked among the top 100 by Golfstat.com.

He followed up that performance by helping the Broncos defeat top three top 50 programs at the Oregon Duck Invitational (March 26-27). McCarty shot an even-par 213 (68-76-69) to finish tied for seventh in the 16-team, 88-player field. McCarty won his first-career tournament in February when he claimed the title at The Farms Invitational.

McCarty and the rest of the Broncos will compete in the WCC Championships beginning Monday in Santee, California.
