VIDEO: Men's Golf Selected for Program's Second NCAA Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS – Santa Clara men's golf will make its second-ever appearance in the NCAA Championships later this month.
The field for the 2018 tournament was revealed Wednesday and the Broncos, ranked No. 51 in the nation by Golfstat.com, were selected as the No. 9 seed in the Raleigh Regional.
Santa Clara is one of 81 teams which will join 45 individuals competing in six NCAA regionals beginning Monday, May 14, on the Lonnie Poole Golf Course, home of NC State.

The Raleigh regional is one of three with 14 teams and five individuals. The other three have 13 teams and 10 individuals at three regionals. Participants will play 18 holes a day with each regional concluding on May 16.
The top five teams and the No. 1 individual not on one of the advancing schools from each regional will play in the NCAA Championships, which will be held May 25-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Georgia Tech is the top seed and Cal No. 2 in the Raleigh Regional. The Wolfpack are sixth.
The Broncos won three tournament titles this past season en route to a tie for third place in last month's West Coast Conference Championships.
Santa Clara's lone appearance in the NCAAs occurred in 2006, head coach Rob Miller's first season.
Senior Hayden Shieh has earned a trip to the NCAA Championships each of his first three years.
The Broncos are one of five WCC programs to advance this year. They are joined by Pepperdine, BYU, San Francisco and Saint Mary's.
Shieh (77), Matt McCarty (147) and Derek Ackerman (231) are each ranked among the top 250 individuals in the nation by Golfstat.
