Men’s Golf Keeping Busy in August

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's golf continues a busy summer this month. Shieh, Harvey, Del Biaggio, and Ackerman have each competed in summer tournaments.

• Hayden Shieh – the 2018 Santa Clara graduate is set to compete in the Pre-Qualifying Web.com Tour tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska on Wednesday. Shieh will tee off at 10:15 a.m. Central at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club, playing three rounds during the three-day event. Shieh had a decorated career as a Bronco, reaching NCAAs four times while also being named to the WCC All-Academic and All-WCC lists four times. In 2017 and 2018, Shieh was also named PING All-West Region.

• Berk Harvey – the rising sophomore finished play in the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) Amateur Match Play Championship in the round of 32. Del Biaggio also finished his tournament in the round of 32, falling to Kevin Huff, 2 and 1. During the first two rounds of stroke play, Del Biaggio fired a 77 and 71 to tie for 17th.

• Will Del Biaggio – the soon-to-be Junior competed in the NCGA Amateur Match Play Championship along with his fellow Bronco, Harvey. Del Biaggio finished his tournament the round of 32, falling to Kevin Huff, 14 to 19. During the first two rounds of stroke play, Del Biaggio fired a 77 and 71 to tie for 17th among the 153 golfers.

• Derek Ackerman – The rising senior finished play in the U.S. Amateur Championship on Aug. 19. Ackerman fired a 76 in round one and a 79 in round two during the tournament at the Pebble Beach golf links. The Half Moon Bay native qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship by placing second among 140 golfers at the Northern California Golf Association's qualifier in July. Ackerman helped lead the Broncos to the NCAA Raleigh Regional this year through a strong showing at the WCC Championship where he fired off a 1-under-par.
