Men’s Golf At Inverness Intercollegiate Monday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A quick turnaround for Santa Clara men's golf has the Broncos in Toledo, Ohio for the 14th annual Inverness Intercollegiate. The two-day, three-round event gets underway Monday at the 7,172-yard, par-71 Inverness Club.

The Broncos opened their season last week with a sixth-place tie at the Showdown in the Rockies. Junior Matt McCarty and freshman Nordin van Tilburg both placed among the top-10, and senior Derek Ackerman overcame a tough first-round to play even-par golf over the final two rounds.

"The team looks good at the top with Matt, Nordin and Derek," head coach Rob Miller said. "But the difference between this year's start and last year was the contribution from those four and five spots. We will need improvement there to have success."

Miller changed the bottom of his lineup in an effort to remove the bugaboo. Sophomore Berk Harvey will make his season debut playing in the No. 4 spot and freshman Konrad Brauckmeyer will participate in his maiden collegiate event at No. 5. Senior Michiel Eyre III will compete as an individual.

Santa Clara is one of 12 teams vying for the team title along with host Toledo, Butler, Dayton, Fresno State, Louisiana, Mercer, San Francisco, Saint Mary's, St. Bonaventure, Tennessee, and Virginia. A trio of Ohio State players will compete as individuals.

"The guys are looking forward to playing this highly-regarded and internationally respected golf course," Miller said of the visit to Inverness.

Monday's action is scheduled to get underway with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. ET (5:45 a.m. PT). Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
