SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's golf concludes its 2018-19 regular season this weekend at the 15-team Boilermaker Invitational, hosted by Purdue on the 7,465-yard, par-72 Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Broncos headed straight for the Midwest after earning a fifth-place showing at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Tuesday.

Freshman Konrad Brauckmeyer had a breakout tournament in Arizona grabbing a share of sixth-place for his first top-10. He carded a personal-best 67 in the second round on his way to the lowest 54-hole total of his career at 209. Brauckmeyer was the team's top individual finisher for the first time.

"Heck of a tournament for Konrad," head coach Rob Miller said of his first-year player. "It's great to see his game come together."

The top of the lineup remains with junior Matt McCarty playing out of the No. 1 spot and senior Derek Ackerman at No. 2. Sophomores Zack Kaneshiro and Jack Avrit make up the rest of Santa Clara's contingent.

At No. 5, Oklahoma is the top-ranked team in the field, according to the recent Golfstat.com poll. At No. 78 in the poll, the Broncos will compete against six other top-100 squads, including: Northwestern (49), Kent State (60), Notre Dame (64), Purdue (70), Illinois State (85) and Indiana (98).

"The field is pretty strong," Miller added. "This is our last tournament before the conference championship in two weeks, so we are hoping to continue to build momentum for that event."

Teams and select individuals will play 36 holes on Saturday with a shotgun start format at 5:45 a.m. PDT. Live scoring updates will be available at Golfstat.com.
