Men’s Golf Tied for 11th After 36 Holes of the Saint Mary’s Invitational

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.Matt McCarty and Konrad Brauckmeyer each shot 1-over-par 72 during second-round action, but it wasn't enough for Santa Clara men's golf to improve in the standings of the 16-team Saint Mary's Invitational on Tuesday.

The Broncos are tied for 11th at 11-over 579 (288-291), dropping one spot from the opening round on the 7,002-yard, par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course.

Colorado State leads the way at 21-under 547 (267-280), Arizona is second at 15-under and BYU third at 14-under.

Seth Taylor of Coastal Carolina leads the field at 9-under 133 (67-66). Parathakorn Suyasri of Colorado State and Brad Reeves of Arizona are one shot back.

McCarty leads the Santa Clara contingent at 1-over 143, which puts him in a tie for 35th.

Brauckmeyer and Jack Avrit are one shot back of McCarty in a tie for 39th. Avrit was the team's top performer in the opening 18 holes with a 2-under 69 that left him in a tie for ninth place.

Zack Kaneshiro is tied for 69th at 7-over 149 (76-73) and Berk Harvey is tied for 73rd at 8-over 150 (76-74).

Alex Conley, playing as an individual, in the three-day event that features 12 teams ranked among the top 100 in Golfstat, including four in the top 20.

BYU is the highest ranked team at No. 6. Arizona is 14th and Colorado State 20th.

Tee times for Wednesday's final round begin at 7:30 a.m.
