Two Men's Golfers Shine in Amateur Events

Two Santa Clara men's golfers saw success at a pair of amateur tournaments this week with top 10 showings.

Matt McCarty finished tied for fifth at The Tucker Amateur, played at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona, by posting a 10-under total of 206 (67-70-69). The senior was five shots back of tournament champion Trevor Werbylo who plays at the University of Arizona.

Oscar Zimmerman, a sophomore, tied for seventh at the Bayonet and Black Horse Fall Invitational in Seaside, California, where he carded a 2-over 146 (72-74), four shots back of event champion Will Draper from Cal Poly.
