Men's Golf Has Strong Finish at Paintbrush Invitational

PARKER, Colo. - Santa Clara men's golf shot a final-round 306 on Tuesday to finish ninth at The Paintbrush Invitational.

Alex Conley shot 2-over-par 74 and Oscar Zimmerman a 75 over the last 18 holes for the Broncos in the two-day tournament that was played at the Colorado Golf Club.

Konrad Brauckmeyer was the top finisher for Santa Clara, ending the event in a tie for 27th at 11-over 227 (76-73-78).

Davis Bryant of Colorado State won the tournament with 3-under total of 213, which helped the Rams claim the team title. CSU carded a 26-over 890. Host Denver was tied for second with Northern Colorado at 32-over.

The Broncos were at 56-over 920, just four shots back of eighth-place Ball State. Santa Clara started the third round in 11th after a second round 314, but only four schools in the 11-team field scored better over the final 18 holes than the Broncos.

Zimmerman was tied for 40th at 14-over 230 and Conley ended tied for 51st at 17-over 233.

Nolan Forsman (t-58th/19-over 235) and Berk Harvey (t-64th/21-over 237) rounded out the Santa Clara lineup.

The Broncos will play in the Oregon State Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
