Forsman Brings Home Second-Straight Top-20 Finish

SONOMA, Calif. - Santa Clara senior golfer Nolan Forsman secured his second-straight top-20 finish on Tuesday, carding a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Alister Mackenzie Invitational to finish the tournament in 13th place at 3-under 72-72-69--213. 

Forsman saved his best round for last by rolling in four birdies on the day as he climbed five spots in the final standings. This is his best finish of the young season and second-straight in the top-20 after tying for 19th at the Bearcat Invitational. 

Santa Clara as a whole had by-far their best round of the tournament, carding a 6-under 282, the fourth-lowest round of the day. The Broncos finished in tie for seventh with Dartmouth at 1-over 865. 

Julien Paltrinieri finished one stroke behind Forsman to finish 14th at 2-under 72-71-71--214 and Alex Conley climbed nine spots on the day to tie for 20th at 2-over 72-74-72--218. 

Eugenio Bernardi (72-71-76--219) tied for 27th while both Alejandro Gutierrez (74-76-71--221) and Viraj Garewal (76-76-70) had their best rounds of the event on Tuesday to climb nine and 11 spots, respectively, to tie for 36th and 41st. Calder Overfelt (76-74-74--224) tied for 47th and Jolo Magcalayo (76-76-82--234) tied for 58th.

Host-Cal won the tournament at 21-under 282-285-276--843 and Long Beach State's Ian Gilligan won medalist honors at 15-under 70-66-65--210. 

The Broncos will play one final fall tournament before the calendar flips over. Santa Clara will head to Pebble Beach for the Saint Mary's Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, at Poppy Hills.
