Santa Clara Men Prepare For Wyoming Cowboy Classic Next Week

April 4, 2008

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's golf team will head to Scottsdale, Ariz. this coming week to take part in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. The three-round tournament will start with two rounds on Tuesday, April 8 and will conclude with the final round on Wednesday, April 9 in the afternoon. This will be the final tournament for the Broncos before the WCC Championships the week after.

Last week the team took part in the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, placing 11th. Jimmy Cacho led the team, shooting +13 for the tournament to put him tied for 17th, his fifth top-20 finish of the year. The team will look for Cacho to pace them out to a great start as he leads the team in first rounds average. Scott Travers will also play a crucial part as he looks to regain his form from a month ago where he notched back-to-back top five finishes.

After the Cowboy Classic, the Broncos will be off to Tacoma, Wash. for the WCC Championships. That will begin Monday, April 14 and end the following day, Tuesday, April 15.
