Post-Game Quotes from Men's Soccer Game vs. UCLA

Sept. 15, 2006

Recap |  Final Stats

Head coach Cameron Rast, on game: "In the run of play, I thought we did a better job tonight than last week, but could not get that first goal. We had a lot of chances and took a lot of shots, but the last touch was just not there. You have to give UCLA credit because they took advantage of their opportunities and earned the win."

Rast, on two UCLA goals: "We basically had a bad minute and we did not recover from that until the final few minutes of the game. It was good to see the team not give up though and try to get back in it in the final minutes. We need to grow from this game and get better."

Amaechi Igwe, on attack: "We really created a lot of good chances in the first half and we did not put them away. UCLA is a very good team and they made us work hard to create offense. We were a bit unlucky not to finish tonight and their goalkeeper played a great game."

Igwe, looking ahead to Northridge game Sunday: "We kept pressing at the end of the game to get a goal and we were able to pull one back. Hopefully that will get us fired up for Sunday's game and we will come out ready to play."

Keith DeVey, on goal: "I set up on the near post on most corners and Amaechi (Igwe) played a great ball in and all I had to do was re-direct it. Amaechi made the goal with his cross."

DeVey, on team's attitude: "The team showed a great attitude in the last 15 minutes and we all kept pushing to get the goals back. As a team, we showed some maturity by doing that and we nearly got back in it."

DeVey, on road games: "Tonight's game and the game on Sunday are great games for us because they will make us better as we go into the conference season and down the stretch. Tonight was a tough loss but I think we will learn from it. We need to respond well with a good game on Sunday."
