IRVINE, Calif. – Freshman Harrison Hanley, one of Santa Clara's most athletic all-around players, scored in the 69th minute, propelling the Broncos to a 1-0 victory over Loyola-Chicago Monday afternoon in Irvine.

The three-sport star from Oaks Christian High School in Southern California knocked in a rebounded shot for the game's lone goal. The score, and the rebound setting it up, was a product of an offensive attack for SCU in which they out shot Loyola 7-2 in the second half.

The victory earns SCU a split in its two-game trip playing at the UC Irvine College Classic. The Broncos dropped a heart-breaking 2-1 decision Saturday night to Wisconsin, losing on an own goal in the game's closing moments.

Hanley wasn't the only freshman to immediately be recognized as an impact player for Santa Clara. Carlos Montes, a first-year player from James Lick High School in East San Jose, earned all-tournament consideration along with SCU's all-league midfielder Brandon Zimmerman.

NEXT UP:
Santa Clara will play twice at the Marquette Invitational in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this weekend, facing Valparaiso (Friday at 5 p.m.) and host Marquette (Sunday at 2 p.m.)
