Kevin Klasila Signs Professionally with USL’s Charleston Battery

CHARLESTON, SC – Santa Clara University's Kevin Klasila has agreed to terms with the Charleston Battery of the United Soccer League (USL), in preparation for the upcoming 2012 USL season.

A graduate of Loyola High School in Los Angeles, Klasila led Santa Clara to a pair of West Coast Conference Championships (2007 & 2010) during a remarkable five-year collegiate career on the Mission Campus. He ranks No. 5 all-time in Broncos history in both saves (194) and career shutouts (17). Klasila was also an outstanding student, twice earning WCC All-Academic Team honors.

"I saw Kevin at the Ventura County Fusion combine in California; he did very well and continued to show well after coming to Charleston to earn his contract," Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser was quoted saying in the team's official press release.

Klasila becomes the 55th Santa Clara Bronco men's soccer alumnus to move on and play in the professional ranks. Klasila's senior classmates from SCU's 2011 team, Mykell Bates and Brandon Zimmerman, were selected in the Major League Soccer 2012 Supplemental Draft in January.
