  • Broncos Set Commissioner's Honor Roll Record for Second Straight Year
    July 23, 2014
    The West Coast Conference announced its 13th annual Commissioner's Honor Roll Tuesday, and 141 Santa Clara Broncos were recognized with honors for their athletic success and academic excellence. Santa Clara had 18 student-athletes receive gold honors (3.75-4.00 GPA) and 33 student-athletes receive silver honors (3.50-3.74 GPA). The Broncos set a new record of student athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, breaking the previous mark of 133 in the 2012-13 school year.
  • EYEBRONCO: Women's Soccer Celebrity Golf Fundraiser - World Cup Edition

    Santa Clara University Athletics hosted the first annual SCU Celebrity Golf Tournament – with more than 25 sports celebrities — benefitting the Bronco Bench Foundation and the Bronco women's soccer program on Mon., June 23 at the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park. Sports celebrities included former Super Bowl Champion players, a World Series Champion Manager, a Super Bowl referee, a Heisman Trophy Winner, World Cup Champions, Olympic Gold Medalists, MLB All-Stars, the current head coaches of the MLS Earthquakes and NHL Sharks -- the list goes on and on! In his first day as an EYEBRONCO reporter, men's basketball senior Yannick Atanga caught up with a number of the celebrities to talk World Cup soccer!

    A $7.7 million gift being announced today from Santa Clara University alumna and trustee, Mary Stevens '84, and her husband, Mark, a prominent venture capitalist, marks the first step in a significant recommitment of University resources, time, and talent to create a more nationally prominent athletics program at Santa Clara University.   • Former WCC Goalie Of The Year, Larry Jackson, Signs With New England Revolution

    Professing he will continue to "keep his head down and continue to work hard", former Bronco goalkeeper Larry Jackson '13 signed to work as a goalkeeper for the MLS's New England Revolution this past week. Jackson was named the 2012 West Coast Conference Goalie of the Year at Santa Clara and to the 2012 Continental Tires NSCAA All-Far West Region Third Team.

  • Bronco Men's Soccer Announces 2014 Signees

    Santa Clara University's men's soccer head coach Cameron Rast announced Monday three high school seniors have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Santa Clara University and will play for the Broncos in 2014. In addition, the Broncos welcomed two transfers this winter in Alfred Edmonds and Benjamin Kucera. Edmonds comes to SCU after two years at Belmont University. Kucera was at Creighton University for two seasons as well.

  • Looking Back at Men Soccer's Fall Season

    The 2013 men’s soccer season officially came to an end this past weekend with Notre Dame taking home it’s program’s first national championship. Though Santa Clara was not selected for the NCAA Tournament, the Broncos dramatic season filled with tight, grinding matches led to the program’s 25th winning season (11-9-0) in 27 years and a second place finish in the West Coast Conference.

  • Six Broncos Receive All-West Coast Conference Honors
    November 19, 2013
    After finishing up the 2013 season with a 2-0 victory over USD and a WCC record of 8-4-0 (11-9-0 Overall), six players on the Santa Clara men’s soccer team were named to the All-WCC Men’s Soccer Teams. Carlos Montes picked up All-WCC First Team honors while Mark Daus and Harrison Hanley were named to the All-WCC Second Team. Edson Cardon and Parker Holland made a name for themselves in their rookie season for the Broncos being named to the All-Freshman Team and Bronco goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh was Honorable Mention. Daus and Hanley were both given College Sports Madness WCC honors with Daus being named to the First Team and Hanley being named to the Second Team.

    The Santa Clara men’s soccer team (10-8-0, 7-3-0 WCC) dropped Friday night’s match to LMU (12-4-2, 8-2-1 WCC). Though Santa Clara battled for the whole 90 minutes, the lone goal scored by Juan De Rada dashed the Broncos’ chances at the WCC title.
  • Two Men's Soccer Players Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

    As West Coast Conference play comes to a close this weekend, the Broncos are still in the running for the conference title. Proving their work ethic on the field, two Santa Clara men’s soccer players were awarded for their hard work in the classroom as members of the 2013 West Coast Conference All-Academic Team. Junior Glenn Vass was named to the All-Academic Team while sophomore Max Ornstil was honorable mention.

    Keigo Kameya (KK), a senior forward for the Bronco Men’s Soccer team, is giving it everything he has in the second half of WCC play. As this is his final season with the Broncos, Kameya is aiming non-higher than the National Championship. He looks forward to leaving everything he has on the field and having no regrets.
  • Kendall McIntosh Believes His Team Will be a Contender in December

    Kendall McIntosh (KM), a sophomore goalkeeper has been living up to expectations in his first full year as a Bronco starter. In 2012, McIntosh represented the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team at the Northern Ireland Milk Cup. He has taken advantage of what he learned overseas and with the National Team and put it towards his success here at Santa Clara. With hard work and dedication McIntosh believes this team can make it to the postseason and contend into December.
