After the WCC coaches preseason poll, the men were selected as the favorite to win the 2013 West Coast Conference Championship. The University of San Diego was picked to finish second while Loyola Marymount University was pegged to finish third.

The poll also selected a 2013 Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team naming senior defender Mark Daus and sophomore forward Ryan Masch to the list.

As a junior co-captain, Daus was named to the 2012 All-WCC First Team last season and anchored the back line as the Broncos posted seven shutout games.

As a freshman, Masch made an immediate impact for the Broncos gaining honors on the 2012 All-WCC Honorable Mention list and making the 2012 WCC All-Freshman Team.

The Broncos will finish up their preseason camp this week as they head into their season opener against SIUE Fri. Aug. 30 at 7p.m. at Buck Shaw Stadium.

While the team was challenged through fitness tests and double days, the men were able to spend some time away from campus for some team bonding and training in the last week.

The Broncos spent an afternoon in Santa Cruz on Aug. 19 to take a break from the field and come together as a team.

"We've been grinding through our double days for a little over a week now and this trip is just a chance to get away and get off campus," said Bronco head coach Cameron Rast. "We'll get to go down to the beach, jump in the cold water, let the legs relax, play some cards and really enjoy each others' personalities and the brotherhood of putting this team together."

After a few more training days on the Mission campus, where the men competed in inter-squad matches, the Broncos headed north to Lake Tahoe for the weekend to train in the altitude.

"One of our early tournaments this season will be in New Mexico. It's about 5,000 ft. above sea level and a little bit thinner in terms of air, and I think it is very important that our team experience what it feels like at that level so we aren't surprise when we get to New Mexico," said Rast. "In addition, it is a great place for us to just hang out and train."
