Broncos Top Portland on the Road with Overtime Goal by Carlos Montes

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Bronco men's soccer team (7-8-0, 4-3-0 WCC) takes down the Portland Pilots (8-8-0, 3-5-0 WCC) with an overtime goal scored by Carlos Montes. The goal came in the 98th min. assisted by Michael Gates. The goal is Montes' third of the season and second game-winner in WCC play.

"We played well through the match and got stronger as the game went on," said Bronco head coach Cameron Rast. "Both teams defended well and attacked with purpose but we found the moment we needed to score the decisive goal. Carlos Montes was a warrior in his performance and was clinical in his finish. Hats off to the backs as they were solid as well."

The Broncos recorded their fourth shutout of the season with goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh collecting seven saves.

The men will continue WCC play on Sun., Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. on the road at Gonzaga. The Bulldogs (8-3-3, 5-2-0 WCC) are coming off of a 2-1 win at Portland on Wednesday after junior Clark Phillips knocked in two goals for the Zags.

"This win keeps us in touch with the league leaders," continued Rast. "Gonzaga is a big game for us and we will be ready to compete."
