Men's Soccer Releases Spring Schedule

The Bronco men's soccer team released its spring schedule on Friday.  To enable the Bronco players to play on summer teams, Santa Clara opened spring practice during the winter quarter this year.

SCU will host a match at 6 pm on April 13 at Buck Shaw Stadium vs. the Earthquakes PDL team.  Santa Clara will play the Earthquakes at Buck Shaw Stadium April 22 at 10:30 am. A few days later, Santa Clara will play Cal Poly at Nutralite at 1 pm on April 26.  A day later, the Broncos will host their Alumni Game at Buck Shaw at 1 pm.

The team will finish off the spring season with a May 3 match at UC Davis.

Bronco head coach Cameron Rast decided to begin spring practice during the winter quarter this year to give the Broncos more summer options for playing time.  "Based on our game schedule starting and ending a bit earlier in the academic year, it will allow our guys to play with outside teams."

This spring's goals are similar to those each spring.  "Any time we compete we will play to win in order to develop the right mentality in the program," said Rast.

Rast also knows it will be equally important to look at players in varying roles to develop understanding of how to play best amongst the group.

The Broncos will  train five to six times per week based on their match schedule and the need for recovery.  Rast hopes the schedule will give the team the best opportunity to develop the necessary intensity and playing standard for the fall season.
