Men's Soccer Hosts Final Non-Conference Match on Sunday

San Francisco Live Video and Live Stats

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Heading into its final non-conference match of the 2014 season, the Santa Clara men's soccer team faces West Coast Conference opponent San Francisco in a Bay Area showdown in Buck Shaw Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. Free live video and stats will be available for the match on SantaClaraBroncos.com.

"We want to continue to grow and learn as a team and this is a chance for us to settle everything in our lineup and have a complete performance," said Santa Clara head coach Cameron Rast. "Knowing what we have and having a quality performance are the two important things we need to tact down before heading into conference. We will always play to win. We have to understand the things that need to go into winning. You have to know what a winning game plan means to make sure our approach is right and organized."

Only the last seven WCC match-ups will count towards the WCC Championships standings. "The WCC is completely up for grabs," said Rast. "When you only play a single round robin, you cannot win the conference without getting a good break that changes the whole league. We are going to play to make breaks for us; I believe that luck is made with effort and concentration and desire. We are going to put ourselves in the best position. And in the end, we are going to need to play well against some good teams."

The Broncos (4-4-2) look to bounce back from last Sunday's loss against San Diego. Carlos Delgadillo leads the team with two goals and six points. Three other players also add to the offense force and each tally two goals on the season for the Broncos: Steve Eneme, Max Ornstil and Edson Cardona.

With Kendall McIntosh in the net and Benjamin Kucera and Valdemar Andersen holding down the back line, the Bronco defense has shut out opponents four times this year and limits them to a .105 shot percentage. McIntosh was named WCC Player of the Week on Sept. 15, and his save in the Cal match was featured as the No. 2 Top Play of the Week on the conference's Top Play Tuesday. He has 37 saves on the season with a .771 save percentage in his junior campaign.

The Broncos' quest for the WCC Championships begins on Oct. 17 against Gonzaga at home.

Scouting the Dons

Santa Clara is 25-32-9 against San Francisco with the first meeting coming in 1967. The last meeting between the two Bay Area teams ended in a 2-1 win for the Broncos on Nov. 8, 2013.

San Francisco is coming off of a recent 3-1 loss to Loyola Marymount last weekend where the Dons also beat San Diego 2-0. USF's overall record stands at 6-3-1 with three wins over ranked opponents, such as then-No. 7 Cal, then-No. 21 Wisconsin and then-No. 24 Florida Gulf Coast. They have outscored opponents 14-8 and post an average of 13.6 shots per game to their competitors' 9.4 shots per game.

The Dons are led by Migual Aguilar who has four goals and nine points for his team. The senior from Sacramento, Calif. has one game-winner under his belt this season and had attempted 27 shots this season. Fellow senior Danny Kirkland has three goals on the season and seven points. Goalkeeper Chase Hauser has started all 10 games for the Dons and tallies 31 saves on the season for a .795 save percentage.
