SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Less than two months after playing for the El Salvador U23 National Team, Santa Clara men's soccer rising junior Edson Cardona has been named to the 18-man El Salvador Olympic Qualifying team. El Salvador matches up with C.D. Atlético Marte of La Liga Mayor — the country's top professional league — for a friendly in Santa Tecla, El Salvador Tuesday night.
El Salvador and Honduras played out to a scoreless draw in a friendly June 18 in Honduras.
Cardona tied for second on the 2014 Broncos with three goals. He added one assist for a total of seven points and scored two game-winners for Santa Clara.
