SCU Soccer Moves to 3-1-1 in West Coast Conference Play

SPOKANE, Wash. – Carlos Delgadillo's goal with five minutes to play lifted Santa Clara to a weekend sweep during its Northwest road trip, beating Gonzaga 1-0. Delgadillo had returned from injury to also score in Friday's win over Portland.

Santa Clara (8-7-1; 3-1-1 WCC) has two games remaining on its regular season schedule, playing LMU on the road next weekend, then hosting San Diego at home Saturday, Nov. 14th, in games, which will go a long way in deciding the WCC Champion.

"This was a tough, grinder kind of game on a Sunday afternoon," said Santa Clara head coach Cameron Rast, who is trying to take the Broncos back to its 20th NCAA Tournament. "Gonzaga fights tooth-and-nail and are out to prove themselves. Having Carlos back took a lot of pressure off other areas of the field. He put us in control in both matches."

The Broncos beat Portland 3-2, on Parker Holland's goal 22 seconds into overtime Friday. The wins puts the Broncos at 3-1-1 in league play with upcoming games with second-place LMU and first place San Diego.

The Zags moved to 6-9-1 and 1-4-0 in WCC play.
