SANTA  CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer will host its second home game of the season against San Jose State on Wednesday. Kickoff at Stevens Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

The Broncos are 25-20-5 all-time against the Spartans. The most recent matchup came in 2015 at SJSU and the Broncos won, 1-0.

"We're really looking forward to being at home and having a home match," head coach Cameron Rast said. "We had the UC Irvine game which was great but we probably didn't play nearly as well as we would've liked to in front of our home crowd. But, being able to have San Jose State here, a local derby which will have great emotion to it and hopefully great quality to it as well."

THE BRONCOS

Santa Clara (4-3) has the best goals against average in the West Coast Conference, allowing just 0.71 goals per game. Along with being tops in the league, that is the No. 24 mark in the nation. An experienced back line in front of sophomore goalkeeper Dakota Havlick has allowed just five goals after seven games and posted three shutouts.

"(Over the break) I think we had the chance to look at some of our film and really break down some of the things that are causing us problems, particularly in the flow of the attack. That is what we're addressing; to make sure we have great chances to score goals. We've been in good spots we just need to finish off those chances."

Scoring has not come easy for the Broncos, totaling six goals in seven games. Junior Carlos Delgadillo is the leading scorer on the team with two goals, both of which were game-winners. Delgadillo has scored seven game-winners in his career and 16 goals overall. Junior Satoshi "Yoshi" Chaffin has pitched in three points (assists worth one, goals worth two) on the year, scoring the Broncos opening goal against CSUF and assisting on the game-winning goal. Senior Edson Cardona scored the game-winning goal for SCU from the penalty spot in the match against Northwestern on Aug. 29.

THE SPARTANS

San Jose State (1-5-2) will be playing its third match in six days when these two teams square off. The Spartans won their opening game over Pacific, 3-2, and drew or lost the next seven matches. They tied UC Riverside, 2-2 on Sept. 23 and lost, 1-0, to Loyola Marymount in overtime on Sept. 25.

Jeremy Romero and Andrew Mendoza each have scored two goals for the Spartans to lead the team. Jonathan Colunga and Suliman Khorami have both dished out two assists to tie for tops on the squad.

Goalkeeper Nedin Tucakovic has played every minute of every game for SJSU, allowing 17 goals and making 45 saves on the year.

San Jose State posted a 6-11-2 record in 2015.
