SANTA  CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer opens West Coast Conference play at the University of San Francisco on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT at Negoesco Stadium.

The Broncos have a 25-34-10 all-time record against the Dons. In the 2015 matchup at Stevens Stadium, San Francisco won, 2-1.

"(Going into league play) I don't think a lot changes, I think the approach should be the same every single game," head coach Cameron Rast said. "Once you get into conference, you know there is a great opportunity to win the conference and get the automatic bid. That's not what you can focus on, you can focus on playing well and playing each game individually so you can be your best at preparing, executing and getting the result you need."

THE BRONCOS

Santa Clara (5-4) has the best goals against average in the West Coast Conference, allowing just 0.65 goals per game. Along with being tops in the league, that is the No. 21 mark in the nation. An experienced back line in front of sophomore goalkeeper Dakota Havlick allowed just six goals in nine nonconference matches and posted four shutouts.

"Any time you're talking about needing a win, you have to score goals," Rast said. "That's going to be an important piece for us to make sure we get right. When you go away from home, the environment is going to be different and new but I think we have more than prepared for that with how much we've been on the road this season."

Scoring did not come easy for the Broncos who totaled seven goals during the nonconference slate. Junior Carlos Delgadillo is tied for the leading scorer on the team with two goals, both of which were game-winners. Delgadillo has scored seven game-winners in his career and 16 goals overall. Junior Satoshi "Yoshi" Chaffin has pitched in five points (assists worth one, goals worth two) on the year, scoring and assisting on game-winning goals for the Broncos. Senior Edson Cardona and junior Jonathan Jarrett have also opened their scoring accounts this year.

THE DONS

USF (4-5) enters the match against SCU after a two-week hiatus, not playing a match since Sept. 25. The Dons were riding a four-game losing streak but rallied in their last two matches to upset then-No. 12 Stanford and defeat UC Riverside.

David Garrett has scored four goals (one game-winning goal) for USF which is tops on the team. Davi Ramos and Leon Schwarzer have also chipped in two goals. Aaron Lombardi has dished out three assists, the most on the squad.

Goalkeeper Andre Glasnovic has started eight of nine matches, posting a 4-4 record; recording 29 saves and zero shutouts.

USF posted a 6-11-1 record in 2015.
