SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer squares off against Pacific on Saturday in its fourth West Coast Conference match of the year. The match at Knoles Field will kickoff at 7 p.m. PT.

The Broncos boast a 15-3-3 all-time record against the Tigers. In the 2015 matchup, SCU and Pacific drew in their match at Stevens Stadium. 

"We're hoping to get a good result," head coach Cameron Rast said. "In so many ways we've played well enough and for that part, I think the guys have done some decent things. But in the end, it comes down to the final score. For us, that has not been the results we've wanted."

THE BRONCOS

Santa Clara (5-7, 0-3 WCC) has the best goals against average in the West Coast Conference, allowing just 0.82 goals per game. Along with being tops in the league, that is No. 35 mark in the nation. An experienced back line in front of sophomore goalkeeper Dakota Havlick has allowed 10 goals in 12 matches and posted four shutouts.

"We look forward to that matchup," Rast said. "It's (Pacific) a good team and we want to beat a good team. We'll have our hands full but we hope to play well, well enough to win and solve a couple of the issues we're having as a team."

Scoring has not come easy for the Broncos, totaling seven goals in 11 games. Junior Carlos Delgadillo is tied for the leading scorer on the team with two goals, both of which were game-winners. Delgadillo has scored seven game-winners in his career and 16 goals overall. Junior Satoshi "Yoshi" Chaffin has pitched in five points (assists worth one, goals worth two) on the year, scoring and assisting on game-winning goals for the Broncos. Senior Edson Cardona and junior Jonathan Jarrett have also opened their scoring accounts this year.

THE TIGERS

Pacific (10-3, 2-1 WCC) enters Saturday's match on a two-game winning streak and has won nine of the last 10, including a win over then-No. 11 San Diego State.

"Pacific is a good team," Rast said. "Pacific has had success this year and found their way and that's been great for them and good for our conference but in the end our job is to win games."

Julio Cervantes is the leading scorer for the Tigers and he is tied for the second-most in the league with seven on the season. Tristan Blackmon has scored two goals and dished out five assists, tops on the squad. The team has scored 25 goals and assisted on 20 of them.

The Tigers have played three goalkeepers on the year with Curtis Goldsmith playing 11 games and 985 minutes in the cage. He has allowed nine goals and made 28 saves on the year.

Pacific has made a huge turnaround from the 2015 season when they posted a 1-15-1 (0-6-1 WCC) record overall.
