Final Exhibition on Tap for Men's Soccer Sunday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer plays its second and final exhibition of the season Sunday at local rival San Jose State at noon.

On Wednesday, the Broncos faced Sacramento State on the road but fell 1-0. They held a 13-9 advantage in shots and 7-4 in shots on goal but the Hornets were able to score the game's lone goal in the 81st minute.

"We're looking forward to our final tune-up of the preseason," Santa Clara head coach Cam Rast said. "After this game, we'll have a better idea of where we are as a team and players' roles as we head into the regular season."

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara returns three of its four All-WCC honorees from a year ago in Valdemar Andersen, Carlso Delgadillo, and Jalani Ambrose. Anderson nabbed second team honors, Delgadillo was honorable mention, and Ambrose was named to the freshman team.

The Broncos return every goal scorer from last year except one. Delgadillo led the team and Yoshi Chaffin finished second in finding the back of the net.

Dakota Havlick played 14 games in goal while allowing 14 goals for a 1.02 GAA. He collected 43 saves and a .754 save percentage while registering four shutouts.

THE SPARTANS
San Jose State finished last season 4-13-2 and 3-6-1 in the Mountain West. The Spartans were outscored on the year 37-20 with opponents holding a 130-90 advantage in shots on goal.

Jeremy Romero led the team with four goals a year ago and returns along with Andrew Mendoza who was second with three goals. Suliman Khorami also returns after leading the Spartans with six assists in 2016.

All three goalkeepers on the roster are sophomores with none seeing any minutes in net a season ago.
