Homestand Concludes for Men's Soccer Saturday with SMU

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer concludes its short two-game homestand Saturday at 7:30 p.m. vs. SMU.

On Thursday, the Broncos fell in double overtime to Tulsa 3-2. The Broncos took a lead after trailing at the half but the Golden Hurricane was able to finish the come-from-behind win.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 5-1-1 all-time against SMU with the first meeting coming in 1973. Last season the Broncos picked up a 1-0 road win over the Mustangs.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (0-4) has attempted 48 shots this season and put 17 on goal. The Broncos have drawn 13 corner kicks.

Miles Robinson leads the team with three points on a goal and an assist. Carlos Delgadillo, Valdemar Andersen, and Brandon Gillingham each have one goal and Andres Jimenez has an assist.

Four different Broncos have started their four games. Henning Jolivet started against Tulsa and leads the team with six saves. Aran O'Brien made four saves in his start vs. Cal State Fullerton, Dakota Havlick made three saves against No. 6 Maryland, and Seamus Hudnut made one save against West Virginia.

THE MUSTANGS
SMU (3-1) started the season with three consecutive wins before falling at No. 1Stanford 3-1 on Thursday. The Mustangs have outscored their opponents 9-6.

Mauro Cichero leads the team with four goals and has added an assist for a team-high nine points. Garrett McLaughlin has scored three goals with Christian Boorom and Garrett Welch each scoring once. Boorom also leads the team with two assists while four other have one assist each.

Michael Nelson has played every minute in net and has allowed six goals for a 1.50 GAA. He has made 13 saves with a .684 save percentage and one shutout.

Saturday is Youth Day. Kids 12 and under get in free.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
