Men's Soccer Finishes Nonconference Play at No. 1 Indiana

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer wraps-up nonconference play and a four-game road trip with a tough test at No. 1 Indiana Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Pacific.

On Friday, the Broncos went to Cal but came up just short in a 3-2 defeat.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 3-3-1 all-time against Indiana with the first meeting coming in 1988. The last meeting between the two programs came in the first round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament at Indiana. After 110 scoreless minutes, the Broncos advanced 5-4 on penalty kicks.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (0-8) has faced a brutal nonconference schedule this season. The last four opponents the Broncos have saved (SMU, Seattle, Washington, Cal) have at least received votes in the most recent top-25 poll with Washington checking in at No. 17. They have also faced West Virginia who received votes and then-No. 6 Maryland to start the season. The Terrapins are currently No. 3 in the nation.

Carlos Delgdillo and Satoshi Chaffin lead the team with three goals apiece. Miles Robinson has a team-high three assists and has added a goal. Valdemar Andersen has scored twice with Nate Shue and Brandon Gillingham each adding a goal.

THE HOOSIERS
Indiana's (7-0-2) two ties have come at No. 2 Maryland and vs. No. 18 Michigan. The Hoosiers topped No. 7 Notre Dame 1-0 in their last match.

They have outscored opponents 20-2 while holding a 134-77 advantage in shots and a 62-25 edge in shots on goal.

Mason Toye, Cory Thomas, and Andrew Gutman all have three goals to tie for the team lead. Four others have two goals each and three have scored once. Thomas Warr leads the team with three assists and has added a goal. Eleven Hoosiers have picked up at least one assist.

Trey Muse has allowed two goals for a 0.21 GAA and has 21 saves for a .913 save percentage. Muse has seven shutouts on the season.
